76th Motor Show: general satisfaction

Although it experienced a slight decrease in the attendance figure (674,000 visitors) owing to unfavourable weather conditions throughout its whole duration, the 76th International Motor Show was entirely satisfactory for exhibitors, media representatives and visitors.

The attendance target that had been announced and budgeted for was the 700,000-visitor mark. It was almost achieved despite awful weather and heavy snowfalls. The electronic ticketing system that was introduced in 2005 and improved this year enhances the reliability of these figures.

A survey conducted on nearly 38,700 visitors confirmed the international character of the Show, with foreigners from 85 countries accounting for 38% of the total. The visitors are growing younger and younger, with one in every two being aged between 18 and 34 years, and 38% in the 35 to 54 years age group. Women regularly account for just over one quarter of admissions.

According to the survey conducted on all stands by the Exhibitors’ Committee, the exhibitors stated that they were satisfied with the business they had done and felt confident about the future.

Finally, a survey was carried out of 4,500 journalists, asking them to rate the quality of the services provided for them before and during the press days. After 450 questionnaires sent in from about 30 countries had been evaluated, the overall average for 13 different services exceeded 3.5 on a scale on which the best mark was 4.

The special exhibition on the centenary of the Revue Automobile was a magnificent success, thanks to the presentation of some exceptional vehicles in a privileged setting.

The 2007 event will be held from March 8 to 18 at GENEVA PALEXPO.
