INDEX 11 is the world’s largest nonwovens exhibition, which will take place from 12th-15th April. 2011 will mark a special occasion in the history of the triennial INDEX exhibition, which has gone from strength to strength since its first edition in 1973.
This year’s event will be the 10th consecutive edition of this flagship exhibition to take place in Geneva since 1984, a period spanning 27 years. During this period this world-renowned event has changed quite radically - from the industry sectors it attracts to its geographical focus - and, importantly, in the sheer numbers of exhibitors and visitors it attracts.
From its origins as a meeting point essentially for the personal hygiene industry – baby diapers and feminine protection products being big markets for nonwovens, the event now attracts a broad range of visitors from a wide range of applications sectors, embracing fields as diverse as Filtration, Automotive, Packaging, Building & Construction, Home Furnishings and Hi-tech Medical sectors. This showcase of the nonwovens industry worldwide now attracts nearly 20% of its visitors from the Filtration sector and, equally, over 2’000 visitors from the Automotive industry, mirroring the diversification of this innovative market.
Stand sales are extremely buoyant and both Palexpo, the exhibition organisers, and EDANA, the international association serving the nonwovens and related industries and sponsors of the event, are optimistic that INDEX 11 will reach the records set at the previous edition in 2008. At this edition, crisis-defying record figures of almost 12,500 visitors were attracted to the event by the 520 exhibitors from 37 countries, who came to Geneva to present their products and services in 52’000m2 of exhibition halls.
