The 20th International Fine Watchmaking Exhibition closed on an optimistic note, pointing to a much more favourable year for Fine Watchmaking. The attendance recorded by the 19 exhibiting brands was up (by 10%), as were the business volumes - the signs of a recovery that began at the turn of the year.
The International Fine Watchmaking Exhibition (SIHH) is now held in January, to the satisfaction of the 19 exhibiting brands, which are now better able to plan their production and deliveries over the whole year.
The increase in attendance is a very clear sign of the recovery: the number of visitors was 10% up on last year at 12,500, 1,200 of whom were representatives of the international media.
The exhibiting brands’ sales teams were openly optimistic that business would increase again over the coming months.
This edition of the SIHH confirms - if this were necessary - the central role that Geneva plays in Fine Watchmaking. Particularly as the aura created by the event allowed about sixty watch brands to hold exhibitions in Geneva at the same time.
The next edition of the SIHH will be held at Palexpo from January 17 to 21, 2011.
