GENEVA PALEXPO non-smoking since July 1

GENEVA PALEXPO has become a non-smoking venue since July 1, the date on which the ban on smoking in indoor or enclosed public places came into force in Geneva. Nearly 80% of Genevans had supported a popular initiative to this effect last February.

The smoking ban on which Geneva's citizens expressed their opinion in this referendum aims to pro-tect the public by imposing as wide a ban as possible on smoking in buildings, premises, establish-ments or vehicles that are public or accessible to the public.

The Geneva government has adopted a transitional regulation that will be valid until Parliament adopts the implementing law. In particular, it lays down the modalities of banning smoking in indoor or en-closed public places or private premises that are freely accessible to the public, the means of en-forcement and the sanctions that are provided for.

It should be pointed out that it is prohibited, among other things, to maintain or establish a room spe-cially set aside for smokers in public or private indoor or enclosed places that are accessible to the public.

GENEVA PALEXPO always scrupulously respects the regulations in force and sincerely thanks in ad-vance everyone - customers, organizers, exhibitors, visitors, congress attendees and partners - for kindly observing the ban.

Knowing that the prime objective is to protect the health of as many people as possible and not to exclude anybody: everyone is always welcome at GENEVA PALEXPO!
